Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.
Proverbs 3:13-20
I figured a long passage was just what I needed to jump back into all this fun stuff. The ironic thing is that this passage is what I have been dwelling on trying to get back into this, but as a side thing. Then I realized it was the next part of what I was going through anyway. Just another sign that it was a God thing in my mind. Without further adeu, on to the verses.
Wisdom, if there was ever a man to write on the subject it’s Solomon. When asked what he wanted he said wisdom, which in the end was the best thing he could has asked for. It’s one thing to have alot of money, lets not lie that it can buy temporary satisfaction. However, it can not buy happynes and understanding. One of the things that people don’t quite get is that satisfaction doesn’t equal happyness. Without wisdom and understanding you end up with societies that burn books and fear anything resembling thought. On the flip side, scoieties that embrace wisdom are well rooted and stand firm, like a tree. Seek not for riches, but seek how to get them endlessly if you’d like to think of it that way. Not all treasure is silver and gold though, so don’t go expecting wisdom to bring you hordes of money every time.
Wisdom, consciencess, it’s what brought the world into existance and it’s what sustains it. Another term for conventional wisdom is knowledge. Knowledge of what things are and how they should work keeps everything working and in line with reality.
What does it all boil down to? It boils down to letting go and learning that earthly knowledge doesn’t equal wisdom. It can create a wise person in the afairs of man, but it does not create someone with Wisdom. However, if attempt to gain the wisdom that comes through a relationship God, it will be a base for all that you do.
