liberty and freedom
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2nd Corinthians 3:17
oxford dictionary definition of freedom as a noun: the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint
in some translations it’s translated as liberty, not freedom:
- the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views
- the power or scope to act as one pleases
so yes, there’s the issue of taking the comment in context speaking of the law from the old testament. the freedom we fill in the Lord is that we don’t need to worry about anything as long as we put our trust in the Spirit of the Lord. imagine not having to worry about what you’re thinking, doing, or speaking…nice ain’t it? it’s amazing what the mercy of the Lord can provide.
