Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2nd Corinthians 3:17

oxford dictionary definition of freedom as a noun: the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint
in some translations it’s translated as liberty, not freedom:

1. the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views
2. the power or scope to act as one pleases

so yes, there’s the issue of taking the comment in context speaking of the law from the old testament. the freedom we fill in the Lord is that we don’t need to worry about anything as long as we put our trust in the Spirit of the Lord. imagine not having to worry about what you’re thinking, doing, or speaking…nice ain’t it? it’s amazing what the mercy of the Lord can provide.

so, the other day, i was kinda down and trying to remember why it was that i try to be nice to people. there’s no reason to cover it up, or deny that i have emotion. i’m still a firm believer that questioning what is around is good and healthy. so as i was reading through james again (good book for when you’re going through a hard time) i came across the answer:

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,� you are doing right.

well, if i’m not nice to myself how can i help? and, how funny is it that i started writing this while watching a special on comics books? one of the things that i like most about comics is the hyper-realism of their world. take the x-men, they’re hated because they’re differenct and yet they’re still good people. the right to live, the right to exist, and the right to help other even when you don’t want to. loving thy neighbor…

it’s funny, i’ve been away from dong this for so long, and when i come back God shows me exactly what i needed to see/hear. but this is exactly what i’ve always wanted to help people with, and what i’ve hoped over the years i could do with tis site. lately i’ve been a little lax on doing this with everything else that has been going on, but if i’ve learned anything from all of this it’s that when God wants you to know something, you’ll know it.
