Local Starline

When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,
-John 19:8

what did pilot hear? that Jesus claimed to be the son of God. Now, in theory, when a pagan, polytheistic ruler hears that some waco is claiming to be God, he wouldn’t bat an eye. or would ask “which god?” instead, pilot was afraid. he knew who Jesus was, without knowing that he knew.

from what i’ve seen, there are alot of people in todays society that are the same way. deep down they know something is wrong, that they shouldn’t be doing some of the things that they are. in this and other passages pilot is totally against killing Jesus. he does his best to have him set free. all this from a pagan ruler.

my point is that we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. just because a person belongs to a certain sect of society, or our first impressions are good doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love them or can’t use them. so just remember, that God died for all of us. even the romans, the high priests, and criminals. we can all be children of God. God bless.

indeed

And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
-2nd Corinthians 5:15 NIV

God died for all of us. All the people before us, and all the people after us. We’re called to live for Christ and the Father right here! We are to live not for ourselves, but always for the will of the Father. All throughout Jesus’ life it’s clear that it is not His will, but the Fathers. So, why should we as little Christs be any different? After all, God is perfect, we’re not.

be careful

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
-Psalm 139:23-24

Be careful what you pray for, you just might get it. I can testify to that. The psalmist knew what he was praying for, but do we always know what we are praying for? This is a prayer of total change, not just one area, but everything! Lets be honest, in todays Christianity it’s all about the feel goodness and being cleansed of all the bad stuff. From where I’m sitting it almost sounds like if you become a member of the church nothing bad is ever going to happen to you again. But if you let God change every part of you, it’s gonna be a rocky road, and it is not going to be easy. Especially since satan is going to do his best to not allow you to let yourself be changed into God’s image. Jesus was a man of great sorrow watching the imperfect world he came to live in, leaving the perfect one on one relationship in heaven with The Father. Point being, not even Jesus was all happy-happy-joy-joy all the time.

So what’s the point of this downer message? Simply that’s it’s ok to go through bad times. And as long as you are letting God change you on God’s terms, not man’s, you’ll be being lead in the way everlasting.

beware the groove

On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot. For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.
-Psalms 11:6-7

Beware the groove that is evil. Sin is easy, it’s what we constantly do everyday. But by the blood of Jesus we are justified in the Lords sight. Personally, I’d rather not be rained on by burning sulfur. Just a thought is all. So, what does this have to do with anything? Well, it’s a nice reminder that God loves justice for one, and that the Lord is totally righteous. But more importantly, as we are justified and made righteous in Jesus’ blood, those that chose to walk with God will be spared burning sulfur.
